Celebrations

We like to celebrate milestones at kindy, but it is completely up to parents and not compulsory.

Cultural and Family Events

We like to celebrate the diversity of cultures we have at Kindy whenever we can. If your family has a special day, such as Chinese New Year, Easter or Matariki, we'd love to learn the traditions and rituals you take part in around this day. Teachers are open to creating resources to share with the kids, showing pictures, giving a demonstration and welcome you speak to the kids about it at mat time.

Special family days like weddings can also spark the children's imaginations. Please let us know if something big is happening in your family and how we can support you and your family.

Birthdays

Birthdays are a much loved ritual at Kindy. They are celebrated by the child making a choice from our selection of fine china to create their birthday tray and a special drink and a treat with a candle to blow out. We include singing and a birthday card.

Graduation

We send our children off on the next part of their learning journey with a puripuriaki – graduation. We like to give our graduates a great send-off to primary school. We have a crown and a feather korowai for them to wear and all the children sing a special song to wish them well. It's nice if parents or whanau can come and celebrate this special day with kindy too. Typically there are lots of cuddles, photos and a few happy tears!
