OUR KINDY

We grow independent, socially capable and emotionally robust children.

With a water run, massive sandpit, play equipment and a large stage, children have plenty of room to play and explore.

At Kaurilands Kindy, we provide high quality early childhood educational experiences in a nurturing, respectful and fun environment. We recognise that play is not only fun, but also meaningful and essential for learning. Our teachers are well known for developing children's interests and establishing solid foundations in learning enquiry, literacy and numeracy.

Kaurilands Kindy caters for children from 2.5 years to 5 years old and offer morning, afternoon and full day sessions. 20 Hours ECE funding is available for children from 3 years old, with WINZ subsidies also available.

As a Community Kindergarten, our connection with the families and whanau of children attending Kindy is of huge importance. Families are invited to be involved in the operation of the Kindy, with regular committee meetings, parent help sessions and an open door policy.

“The strong sense of community within the Kindy is what really sets it apart from other childcare centres. I feel part of a wider community of like minded parents and teachers, all with our children’s best interests at heart.” Xanthe Smythe, parent.

Our Board meets six times per year and two of these are open meetings which all parents and whanau are invited to attend. To find out how to join our Board please speak to our Chairperson or our Management Team (Mary and Caroline) – we always welcome new members.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

We believe that children are competent and capable. It is our goal to ensure that our children are able to learn and grow in an environment which encourages their sense of wonder and discovery.

“I am proud to work at a kindy whose philosophy resonates with my own values - respect, meaningful relationships and good communication.” Caroline Craven, Teacher

One of our biggest aims is to grow socially competent, emotionally robust individuals who are capable of thinking and doing for themselves. Building children's sense of self-worth is central to our teaching practice. We place great value on respect for ourselves, respect for others and respect for our environment, our achievements and creations. We are highly dedicated to being a positive influence in the lives of the children we teach.

We work hard to create a supportive learning and teaching environment which is inviting, engaging and a place where all children can feel valued and respected. Our centre provides opportunities where both children and teachers can teach and learn.

OUR TEAM

Kaurilands Kindergarten has five fully qualified and highly experienced teachers who make up the teaching team - over and above Ministry of Education minimum requirements.

This reflects our dedication to providing the highest possible level of education for our kindy children. All teachers have had a strong degree of involvement with early childhood learning with their own children, leading them to further study and their current careers.

With an open door policy, the teachers welcome discussion and communication regarding your child or the kindy programme. The quality of their relationships with the children is enhanced by the exchange of information and communication that you share with them. The teaching team are happy to discuss your child's learning at any time and are also here to give support and advice if required.
